MR. MACHEN

Mr. Roy W. Machen, II, 78, of Augusta, Kentucky, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Deloice Faye (nee Skaggs) Machen.

 

Roy was born on March 11, 1944 in Bay City, Texas to his parents, the late Roy W. and Omega (nee Slone) Machen. Prior to retirement, he worked for many years as an educator, in education administration, and as a pastor to several churches.

 

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his son, Roy W. Machen, III; three daughters, Estha Fryman (Donald), Michelle Withrow, and Anne Stanfield (David); two sisters, Bette Greenhill (Ronnie) and Mary Springer; four grandchildren, Phillip C. Machen (Becky), Jed Fryman, Fayeth Stanfield, and Madison Stanfield; two great-grandchildren, Hazen Machen and Haden Roy Machen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

The funeral service for Roy will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home in Augusta.

 

Interment will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Bracken County.

 

Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

 

Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
