MRS. WOOD

Mary Carolyn (née Best) Wood, 75, formerly of Augusta, Kentucky, passed away in Houston, Texas on February 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Wood, who passed away on December 2, 2004.

 

She was born in Augusta on November 15, 1949 to her parents, the late Carl Hudson, Jr. and Helen Francis Best. Prior to retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper for Task Surveyors in Miami, Florida. She was a member of the Augusta Presbyterian Church.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Lloyd Wood.

 

She leaves behind her children, Jeffrey Wood and Shelby Kilduff (Bob); and her grandchildren, Austin Stevens, Ashley Kilduff, Allyson Kilduff, Madison Wood, Robert Wood, and Peyton Wood. Also surviving are her uncle and aunt, Bill and Geneva Best; several cousins; and her best friend, April Hamilton.

 

The funeral service will be on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home with Rev. Sue Ann Murray officiating.

 

Interment will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Bracken County, Kentucky.

 

Visitation will also be on Monday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to Noon.

 

Memorials are suggested to the Augusta Presbyterian Church, 101 East Fourth Street, Augusta, Kentucky 41002.
