MRS. RIGG
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Catherine “Kitty” Lynn Rigg (Appelman) of Brooksville Kentucky. She passed at the age of 86 on July 7, 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Catherine was born on March 20, 1937 to the late Bernard and Anna Lee Appelman.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey (Bo) Rigg of Brooksville Kentucky, Kelly Rigg of Lexington Kentucky, Dennis Rigg (Sharon), Jamie Rigg (Tracy), and Wende Seidl (Steve); her grandchildren Brandon Rigg, Adam Work, Ashley Work, Tyler Seidl, Connor Rigg (Megan), Colin Seidl, Caleb Rigg; and her great-grandchildren, Bailey Colemire, Matthew Rigg, Skyler Colemire, and Landynn Combs. She is also survived by siblings Sue Cummins (late Johnny) and Marti Wood (Larry).
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wendell Pope Rigg, her siblings Betty Cummins (Guerney), James “Jim” (surviving spouse Jean), Marilyn (Thomas “Tommy”), Norma (J.W.), Thomas “Tom” (Betty Ann); in- laws Avis Hall (Keevil), Doris Morris (Earl T), and Larry Rigg (surviving spouse Brenda).
She was a 1955 graduate of St. James High School in Brooksville, Kentucky and after graduation traveled by train to start her employment with the Cincinnati Enquirer. She married the late Wendell Pope Rigg on October 17, 1958. She was elected as the Circuit Court Clerk for Bracken County Kentucky where she served the people of Bracken County for 24 years. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church where she served on different committees and member of the Augusta Kentucky Art Guild. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, decorating for holidays, cooking and being with her family.
To honor Kitty’s life, a visitation will be held at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral home on Monday, July 10th at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral mass will be held at St James Catholic Church in Brooksville Kentucky on Tuesday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at St James Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request the contributions be made to St James Catholic Church 122 Garrett Avenue Brooksville, Kentucky 41004.
