MR. THORNSBURY

Fred Thornsbury, 77, of Augusta, Kentucky, passed away at his residence on Friday, June 27, 2025.  He leaves behind his beloved wife of 47 years, Susanne (née Appleman) Thornsbury.

 

Fred was born in Augusta on April 14, 1948 to his parents, the late Robert C. and Mary Ann (née White) Thornsbury. He was a self-employed woodworker. A United States Navy veteran, he served his country in the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. Augustine Church and a lifetime member of the Augusta VFW Post 9535.

 

Along with his wife, he leaves behind two sons, Luke Thornsbury (Bridget) and Troy Archibald (Erica); his daughter, Sarah Caudill (Kent); two brothers, Michael Thornsbury (Roseanne) and Steve Thornsbury (Vicky); and three sisters, Kim Bailey (Rick), Kay Teegarden, and Sandy Hamilton (Kirby). Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kailey Kelsch (Todd), Dylan Archibald (Haley), Chase, Nicole, and Keirsten Archibald, and Nathan Thornsbury; his great-grandsons, Archer, Theo, and Baker Kelsch; his great-great-grandchildren, Kenton Caudill and Kyler Burton; his uncle, John White; several nieces and nephews; and his very special niece, Ariana Perkins.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry Tom Archibald who died in 1982; his sister, Pat Thornsbury; two grandchildren, Amanda and Karrie Caudill; and his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Archibald.

 

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine Church in Augusta by Rev. Joseph Shelton.

 

Interment will follow in the Sharon Cemetery in Bracken County, Kentucky.

 

In following Fred’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
