THOMAS WENZ, JR.

Thomas Kendall Wenz, Jr., 83, of Augusta, Kentucky, went to be with Our Lord on August 7, 2026 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe in Maysville, Kentucky.

 

He was born in Bracken County on April 1, 1943, to the late Thomas K. Wenz, Sr. and Erma Dean (née McFarland) Wenz. Thomas attended St. Augustine Grade School. He graduated from Augusta High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany during the Cold War from 1965 to 1968. After his military service, he worked for Black River Mines for 30 years and then retired after working for Walmart. He was a lifelong member of the VFW and a member of the Campbell County Homemakers Lunch Bunch. Thomas love history, animals, traveling, his woodshop, and especially cookbooks. He enjoyed going to senior citizens' gatherings and cherished the friends he made there. His faith and family meant the world to him, and he was the most charming, kind, and gentle soul—a true gentleman.

 

He leaves behind his daughter, Tracey L. Wenz; his sister, Mary Ann Hiles; his aunt, Betty Bare; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Nick and Debbie Appleman, Steve Appleman, Rose Mary and Fred Schiltz, and Judy Appleman. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Boy Edmand Bean.

 

His wife, Patricia Ann Wenz, whom he deeply loved preceded him in death. Also passing before him were his brothers, Paul Wenz and Edward Wenz, and his brother-in-law, Jerry Appleman.

 

He will be laid to rest in the St. Patrick Cemetery at a private service.
