MRS. SMOOT

Ruth Smoot (neé Jones), 101, of Aberdeen, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center in Seaman, Ohio.

 

Ruth was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on March 29, 1922, to her parents, the late Cleveland and Violet (neé Sapp) Jones. Prior to retirement, she was a restaurant cook with Howard Johnson Hotels.

 

She leaves behind her son, Eddie Smoot; her daughter, Jean Cornett; one sister, Alice Welte (Tom); five grandsons and one granddaughter; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Fred Jones and Ted Smoot; two brothers; and two sisters.

 

Graveside Rites will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the Sharon Cemetery in Bracken County, Kentucky.

 

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Cornwell, Craig Foreman, Brian Smoot, Tony Welte, and Sean Mills.

 

Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
