The 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren of the Snapp family now have a very special guardian angel watching over them. Robert W. Snapp, 82, of Augusta was met at the gates of Heaven by Our Heavenly Father on April 18, 2014.
Born on December 4, 1931, Bob led a full and rewarding life. He was retired from Kentucky Utilities Company. He was a member of St Augustine parish, where he served as lector and trainer of servers. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus and also a member of the Augusta School Board for 16 years. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a Scout Master. Bob was also an enthusiastic Augusta Panther basketball fan of many years. He always had a smile or a corny joke for everyone.
Bob leaves behind his precious wife of 58 years, Betty Ulrich Snapp and their 7 children, Cathy (Willis) Reed, Robin (Joe) Fangman, Mary Nell (Willie) Teegarden, Bob (Mae) Snapp, Holly (Derek) Niceley, Joshua (Pam) Snapp, and Jason (Amy) Snapp. Along with 2 loving sisters, Mary Frances Hampton, Anna Marie Ackley and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Jack Deadmond, Earl and Maude Snapp, Grandfather Robert Snapp and Uncle Floyd (Bud) Snapp as well as 2 sisters Betty Johnson and Sharon Deadmond.
Visitation will be held at Metcalfe-Hennessey Funeral Home on Monday April 21 from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. with prayers at 7:30 P.M. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Augustine Church on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:00 P.M. with the burial following at St. Augustine Cemetery.
